XRP, for instance, has demonstrated a remarkable performance, jumping more than 5% within 24 hours and nearly 10% over the week. This surge propelled XRP past USDC, making it the fifth-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalisation, now valued at approximately $73 billion.
The broader rally in major tokens appears to be influenced by a more favourable macroeconomic environment. Recent softer U.S. economic data, coupled with comments suggesting a reduction in inflationary risks, have contributed to this positive sentiment. However, analysts note that thin holiday trading volumes on Saturday, 4th July, may have amplified these price movements, making them more pronounced than they might otherwise have been.
Bitcoin's ascent above $63,000 occurred during U.S. morning hours on Saturday, marking a 1.4% increase over 24 hours and a 3.6% gain throughout the week, according to CoinDesk data. This impressive recovery completely reverses the losses incurred at the close of June, providing renewed optimism for investors.
Beyond Bitcoin, Ether also benefited, adding 3.2% to trade at around $1,793, cementing an 11.5% gain over seven days. Dogecoin saw a 2.6% rise, while Solana maintained its strong position near $82.50, boasting a 13.2% weekly increase. These gains underscore a week built on a friendlier macro outlook.
Key factors contributing to this upward trend include remarks from Fed Chair Kevin Warsh, who indicated that inflation risks have subsided, alongside a softer June jobs report from the U.S. These developments, combined with a squeeze on bearish traders, have helped push Bitcoin from below $60,000 to over $63,000 in just five trading sessions.
However, the enduring momentum of this rally remains contingent. Future U.S. inflation figures will be closely watched, as will the sustained buying activity once U.S. trading desks fully resume operations post-holiday. Bitcoin commenced the third quarter at 21-month lows, making its current recovery a significant milestone. The sustainability of this uptrend will be a critical point of focus for investors and market watchers in the coming weeks.
